Tottenham have made a late effort to win the race to sign Porto winger Luis Diaz.
The Colombian ace had been linked with a £60million move to Liverpool earlier this month but Antonio Conte has now urged Spurs chiefs to bring him to North London.
According to the Guardian, an initial bid of £37.6m — way short of the South American’s £66m release clause — has been rebuffed.
But with time running out before Monday’s transfer deadline, Conte is eager to close a deal.
Diaz, 25, has also been linked with Manchester United in the past and is regarded as one of the most talented prospects on the continent.
The attacker shone at last year’s Copa America, sharing the tournament’s Golden Boot with Lionel Messi thanks to his four goals.
Spurs are hoping to pip their Premier League rivals to the coveted signature, while also looking to offload their unwanted underperformers.
Six clubs have now shown interest in Dele Alli. The Daily Mail report Newcastle, Borussia Dortmund, Brighton, Everton and Burnley are all in negotiations, while the Daily Echo say Southampton are also in contention.
The future of Tanguy Ndombele looks unclear however, with TeamTalk claiming Everton are keen to scupper a proposed loan agreement with Paris Saint-Germain.
