Transfer Talk: Spurs set to dominate window’s final hours

After a frustrating four weeks of inactivity, Tottenham loooked poised for a frantic end to the January transfer window.

Antonio Conte has made no secret of his desire to bolster his squad this month as the 52-year-old Italian looks to guide Spurs to a top-four finish.

And it looks like Juventus winger Dejan Kulusevski will be a belated first addition, with Sky Sports reporting that an agreement has been reached between the clubs.

The 21-year-old Swede will head to North London on an initial loan deal, with Spurs holding an option to make the switch a permanent one in summer for a fee of around £33million according to Fabrizio Romano

It is a move which appears to have progressed quickly after Tottenham missed out on long-standing target Luis Diaz — with the Porto forward having opted to sign for Liverpool instead.

Talks with Wolves winger Adama Traore were also at an advanced stage before the speedster had a change of heart when his boyhood club Barcelona came calling.

If Kulusevski’s deal is finalised, it is unlikely to be the last bit of business Spurs do before tomorrow night’s deadline.

His Juventus team-mate Rodrigo Bentancur is also a player of interest and the Guardian say that an initial offer of just over £15m has been submitted for the midfielder.

Uruguayan international Bentancur, 24, has featured in the Serie A side’s last nine league clashes and has 46 caps for his country.

He was the subject of interest from Aston Villa earlier this month but it is thought that the West Midlanders have since cooled their interest.

Meanwhile, outgoings are also expected at Tottenham with Spanish winger Bryan Gil set to return to LaLiga with Valencia.

Gil, 20, has been restricted to substitute appearances in the Premier League since arriving for £21m last summer and Eurosport say Spurs want the youngster to get more game time under his belt.

And the midfield trio of Dele Alli, Giovani Lo Celso and Tanguy Ndombele are also pushing for exits — with loan moves most likely.

Frenchman Ndombele is a wanted man with both Paris Saint-Germain and Lyon happy to take the 25-year-old back to his homeland according to the Daily Mail.

Newcastle have been linked with Alli in recent days and it remains to be seen whether the Magpies firm up that interest — but more arrivals are near certain on Tyneside before tomorrow night.

With agreements widely reported to have been reached for Lyon midfielder Bruno Guimaraes and Brighton defender Dan Burn, attentions have now turned to other positions.

The Daily Mail say that the Magpies are eyeing a shock loan move for Manchester United keeper Dean Henderson, with the England stopper desperate for playing time ahead of November’s World Cup.

Red Devils boss Ralf Rangnick was initially reluctant to let Henderson, 24, leave Old Trafford at all but the German is thought to have mellowed in his stance after talks with the player.

West Ham have offered Leeds a staggering £50m for their midfield talisman Kalvin Phillips, according to the Sun.

The Hammers would love to pair Phillips, 26, with his England team-mate Declan Rice at the London Stadium but it is thought the Yorkshire club have sternly knocked back the approach.
