Yesterday’s 2-1 success over Leicester made it five wins and one defeat from their last six Premier League games and Lage is determined not to let standards slip as his side chase a top-five finish.
He said: “It is [down to] hard work. The are no secrets in football. It is hard work and team work. That is no secret.
“I think we can do something special but we have to continue to work.”
Forget about the final
Jurgen Klopp has told his players to forget about the Carabao Cup final until Liverpool have secured victory against Leeds on Wednesday.
The Reds could close the gap on Manchester City to just three points with a win at Anfield following Tottenham’s unexpected 3-2 victory over the champions.
And Klopp wants his side fully focused on that assignment before they even think about turning their attention to facing Chelsea at Wembley on Sunday.
The German tactician said: “I expect from the boys that they listen when I tell them that the next game we play is absolutely the most important game we’ve ever played.”
FA to investigate
The FA are looking into the crowd incidents that marred yesterday’s clash between Leeds and Manchester United.
Objects were thrown from the stands, one of which struck Anthony Elanga, as United won 4-2 at Elland Road.
