Follow the 2022 Qatar World Cup group stage draw LIVE

The draw for the first-ever winter World Cup takes place this evening.

Qatar will host the event in November and December and teams from across the globe are waiting to find out who they will face in their groups.

So far, 29 of the 32 teams have been decided for the tournament, with the winners of the intercontinental play-offs in June taking two of those places.

Ukraine were unable to participate in their play-off against Scotland due to Russia’s invasion, meaning that section of European qualification has been postponed until June at the earliest as Wales wait to find out who they will face.

FIFA have confirmed the pots for the draw will be based on each nation’s current ranking — aside from hosts Qatar, who will be in Pot One — while the three teams yet to qualify will be represented as placeholders in Pot Four.

The tournament kicks off on November 21 and the group stage plays out over 12 days.

Knockout rounds begin with the first last-16 clash on December 3, while the much-awaited final is on December 18.

The draw gets started at 5pm and you can follow it LIVE with us by regularly refreshing this page.
