Jacob Ramsey has extended his Aston Villa deal until 2027.
Having made 22 league appearances for Villa in 2020-21, Ramsey has gone on to make 30 this season and has been a bright spot in an otherwise uninspiring season.
Ramsey, 20, said: “It’s a proud moment for me, especially for my family.
“I’ve been here a long time now, come through the academy, and to sign for another five years at this club, I’m over the moon.
“There’s so many people who have helped me get to this point now, I can’t thank everyone enough.
“It’s been good. I’ve had a lot of up and down moments but it’s all part of the journey and I feel like I’ve been playing well this season, so it’s nice to be rewarded with a new contract.”
Ramsey has played 75 per cent of available minutes in the Premier League for Villa this season and ranks third among the team’s midfielders for both successful passes (32.83) and tackles won (1.55) per 90 minutes.
The Villans youth product scored his first goal in the top flight against Arsenal last October and has added five to that tally since, including a brace against Leeds in February.
Steven Gerrard’s side face Norwich on Saturday.
