Souness bemused by Nketiah situation
Graham Souness admitted he is “amazed” Arsenal have not tied striker Eddie Nketiah down to a new contract following his standout display in yesterday’s 2-1 win over West Ham.
The 22-year-old, who is out of contract this summer, has impressed during three straight wins for the Gunners after being handed a chance in the starting XI by Mikel Arteta.
But as it stands, the striker will leave the Emirates at the end of the season having rejected several new contract offers as he looks to secure more regular first-team football.
And Souness has admitted his surprise at the situation, telling Sky Sports: “I thought Nketiah was the best player on the pitch against West Ham. He was always threatening.
“His contract is about to run out? I’m amazed by that.
“He will not be short of teams wanting him. He looked a threat throughout and he’s up for the fight.
“I really like him and against West Ham, I thought he was fabulous.
“He’s put himself in the shop window. If that is his general standard, he will not be short of teams wanting to take him.”

On Pickford’s match-winning performance Osman told BBC Radio 5 Live: “Pickford’s saves have kept Everton’s dreams alive.
“That [Azpilicueta] save was incredible. Pickford has been criticised in the past because he has a tendency to do something rash. But not today. It was arguably his best-ever game for Everton in their most important game of the season.
“If Everton had lost today you would have felt they were out of the Premier League and the fans knew how important this was.”
