Tottenham have continued their summer revamp with the loan signing of Barcelona defender Clement Lenglet.
Lenglet, 27, has joined Antonio Conte’s side on a season-long loan. Though it is understood there is no obligation to make that deal permanent next summer.
The French centre-back fell out of favour at Barcelona last term and is one of a number of players who has been deemed expendable by the Catalans.
Tottenham have been busy in the transfer market this summer after owners ENIC made £100million available for transfers.
Lenglet — who has been capped 15 times by France — follows Richarlison, Yves Bissouma, Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Signed by Barca in 2018, Lenglet was a regular in his first three seasons in Catalonia. But the left-sided centre-back made just 21 league appearances last term.
Lenglet, who won LaLiga in 2019, will compete with Cristian Romero, Eric Dier, Ben Davies, Davinson Sanchez, Joe Rodon and Japhet Tanganga for a starting berth.
Lenglet could make his competitive debut for Spurs when they begin the 2022-23 Premier League campaign against Southampton on August 6.
