Transfer Talk: Magies prepare club-record Isak move

Newcastle are ready to break their transfer record to make Alexander Isak their new star man up front.

The wealthy Magpies are looking to bolster their attack this summer having splashed out over £50million on defensive arrivals Nick Pope, Sven Botman and Matt Targett.

And Toon’s hierarchy have unanimously agreed that Real Sociedad striker Isak would be an ideal choice, according to the Telegraph.

The 22-year-old has netted 43 times in 128 games since joining the Spaniards in 2019, with Arsenal among the many clubs said to be chasing his signature this summer.

Boss Eddie Howe wants to add more goals to his forward line as he looks to break into the top 10 next season and is a fan of the Swedish international’s ability to play across the front three.

But La Real are said to want “big, big money” for their prized asset, who was one of the most exciting young players on show at last season’s European Championship.

If the Geordies were to make a move, Isak is likely to command a far higher fee than the £42m they paid for Bruno Guimaraes in January.

If a deal can be thrashed out in the coming days, it is likely to be Newcastle’s last piece of major summer business.
