Klopp wary of wounded United

Jurgen Klopp is taking nothing for granted ahead of Liverpool’s trip to Manchester United on Monday night.

The Red Devils go into the game having lost their opening two Premier League fixtures.

But Klopp, who has seen his Reds pick up just two points themselves, knows Erik ten Hag’s side cannot be underestimated.

He said: “United can change nothing or everything, so we don’t know.

“It is really tricky preparation wise, but it’s early in the season and we don’t have a lot of info anyway.

“It’s tough but it’s fine. United away will never be easy so we try to do our absolute best.

“We have to deal with all the situations in the game and at this moment nobody knows what will happen. The whole world will watch it.”

Chelsea sign Casadei

Cesare Casadei has been handed a six-year deal after joining Chelsea from Inter Milan.

The midfielder, 19, is considered one of Italy’s brightest prospects having shined at youth level for club and country.

Bruno is staying in Toon

Eddie Howe has told Real Madrid to forget about trying to sign Newcastle star Bruno Guimaraes.

The 24-year-old Brazilian, a £35million January signing from Lyon, has been touted as a replacement for Casemiro should he leave Real Madrid for Manchester United.

But asked if he would contemplate selling Guimaraes, Toon boss Howe said: “No, absolutely not. We’re trying to build a squad here that we feel can take the club to be successful over the next few years.

“We want to build that squad and enhance the group, not take away our best players.

“Regarding speculation, I’ve got no problem with that as such. It’s a compliment to Bruno and how well he’s done for us.

“He’s been incredible and I think he’s only going to get better from this point. He’s a very valuable member of our team.”

Foxes are Madd for James

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed Leicester have opened contract talks with James Maddison.

The 25-year-old playmaker has two years left on his deal but has attracted interest this summer from Newcastle, who saw a £40m bid rejected.

Asked whether discussions had been held, Rodgers said: “I believe so, I believe they’ve spoken. I’m pretty sure the club would want to do that [and tie him down]. Both sides have to be able to find an agreement.

“With James, with two years left, naturally the club would want to protect the asset. But it works both ways.

“He’s an outstanding player and Leicester would benefit from keeping him longer.”
