Championship predictions: Coventry can continue climbing

– Recommended bets:
Back Coventry to beat Wigan
Back Luton to win at Stoke
Back Sheffield United to beat Rotherham and over 2.5 goals

There is a busy night ahead in the Championship on Tuesday with no fewer than eight games taking place in the highly-competitive second tier.

The Championship is proving to be extremely tight this season with just seven points separating top side Burnley and Preston in sixth, while at the bottom, there are only four points between second-from-bottom Wigan and Sunderland in 13th.

With just two rounds of fixtures remaining before the campaign breaks for the 2022 World Cup, clubs will be desperate to get some points on the board.

Coventry vs Wigan (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

The stats

Coventry have won back-to-back games and lost just one of their last seven league fixtures to climb clear of the relegation zone.

They are looking to record successive home Championship victories for the first time since winning seven in a row between May and October 2021.

Wigan have failed to win in six league outings, losing five during that run, but 14 of their 20 points this campaign have come on the road.

The Latics have only lost one of their three previous trips to Coventry, going down 2-0 when they met in League One in 2015, but they are unbeaten in two Championship encounters when visiting the Sky Blues.

Prediction

Coventry have been sitting in a false position for several weeks after they had three of their opening five games postponed due to issues with their pitch.

The Sky Blues subsequently found themselves in the relegation zone but, having finished 12th last season, the feeling was they would not be down there for long.

Victory over second-placed Blackburn to kick off November saw them move out of the bottom three for the first time since August and a win over Watford last time out has them sitting 15th.

Form is starting to trend in the right direction for Mark Robins’ men and, although Wigan have a strong record on the road, Coventry, priced at 19/20 to win via LiveScore Bet, look well placed to add another three points to their tally.

Stoke vs Luton (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

The stats

Stoke have lost four of their last five outings and they have the second-worst home record in the Championship, winning just twice at the bet365 Stadium.

Luton picked up just 10 points from their opening nine games but they have collected 19 from the following nine to climb up to eighth in the standings.

The Hatters can also draw on some fine form on their travels, having earned the joint-second highest points tally away from home.

Prediction

Luton have only lost one of their last seven away fixtures, winning five during that run, and there is plenty of value in backing them for another road win at 12/5 via LiveScore Bet.

They triumphed 2-1 when they travelled to Stoke last season and confidence appears to be flowing through Nathan Jones’ side.

The Potters have failed to score in two of their last three at home and the bet365 Stadium is no longer the fortress it once was.

Sheffield United vs Rotherham (Tuesday, 7.45pm)

The stats

Following a run of six games without a win, Sheffield United are back on track and they welcome Rotherham to Bramall Lane with three successive victories under their belt

The Blades have netted a league-high 22 goals at home this season, including five when beating table-toppers Burnley on Saturday.

Rotherham picked up 14 points from their opening nine games with Paul Warne in charge, but have collected just a further eight in 10 games since he left for Derby.

The Millers are the joint-lowest scorers on the road, netting just six times, but just seven teams have conceded more than their tally of 13.

Prediction

Sheffield United have registered 34 times in the league this season with only Burnley, who sit at the summit, boasting a better record in front of the target.

With Rotherham’s defensive issues, which have really come to the fore over recent weeks, it looks like this could be a high-scoring win for the Blades.

Indeed, six of Sheffield United’s nine home games have seen at least three goals scored and a home win with over 2.5 goals, available at 11/10 with LiveScore Bet, looks the way to go.
