Ten out of Ten
Erik ten Hag says “belief is growing” in the Manchester United camp after his side recorded their fourth straight Premier League win by beating Bournemouth 3-0.
Marcus Rashford scored for a fourth consecutive game to seal a comfortable victory following earlier strikes from Casemiro and Luke Shaw at Old Trafford.
The win strengthened the Red Devils’ grip on fourth spot as they went five points clear of Tottenham, while they are now just one point behind second-placed Manchester City.
That has led some to suggest Ten Hag’s men could be outside contenders for the title — but the Dutch boss was eager to play down that prospect.
On a potential title tilt, the 52-year-old said: “That’s a big step. We have to go game to game, get the progress.
“Belief is growing and that’s a good sign, it’s good to have that feeling but we have to understand and be able to give 100 per cent in every game — 100% energy, 100% focus, 100% playing as a team.
“If you keep that philosophy it’s possible but we have to go game to game and don’t think too far ahead. It’s now January so it’s not even half a season we are talking about.”
Fulham’s rise continues
Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic wants his side to “keep the dream alive” after their 1-0 win over Leicester lifted them to the lofty heights of seventh in the Premier League.
The Serbian’s 11th goal of the campaign — which equalled his best-ever top-flight tally — proved enough to see the Cottagers claim their third straight win since the World Cup break.
It extraordinarily takes the promoted outfit level on points with Liverpool and opens up the prospect of a European adventure.
Mitrovic, 28, said: “It’s amazing. When you get promoted, the first target is to stay up.
“We don’t think ahead, we stay with both feet on the ground. We’ll see what happens at the end.
“This is a dream for us — we want to keep the dream going.”
