Chelsea have opened talks with Borussia Monchengladbach over a move for France striker Marcus Thuram.
The Blues have scored just 20 league goals this season — half of leaders Arsenal’s total and the fewest of any side in the top half of the table.
And according to Fabrizio Romano, Graham Potter is looking to secure Thuram’s signature in January.
With 13 strikes in 17 outings for Monchengladbach this season, the nine-cap international would bring a proven goalscoring touch to West London.
Thuram, 25, is out of contract in the summer which means he would be available for a cut-price fee should his employers decide to cash in.
The son of World Cup-winning full-back Lilian, he came off the bench five times as Les Bleus fell at the final hurdle in Qatar.
Chelsea will face a battle for his signature with a number of top sides believed to have an interest in the Frenchman.
Raheem Sterling is Chelsea’s top scorer this season with six strikes in 22 appearances, one ahead of Kai Havertz.
