Transfer Talk: Moyes hoping to Hammer out Maguire loan

West Ham are considering a loan move for Manchester United benchwarmer Harry Maguire.

The Hammers are weighing up their options at centre-back, with Craig Dawson’s potential exit to Wolves leaving them limited in that area.

According to The Mirror, Maguire has emerged as a prime target for a temporary switch, with Erik ten Hag’s Red Devils ready to offload their captain.

Despite an encouraging World Cup for England, the 29-year-old has effectively slipped down to fifth choice for his club thanks to Luke Shaw’s emergence as a makeshift centre-back hampering his hopes of minutes further.

He has started only one of United’s four league games since the Qatar tournament and rumours of an exit are quickly intensifying.

It is indicated United are willing to make a considerable loss on the £80million they spent on the England man in 2019 and are open to loaning him out before then.

Alongside Maguire, David Moyes and Co are also targeting 22-year-old Senegal international Formose Mendy, who is impressing in Ligue 1 for Amiens.

Mendy is under contract until 2025 and fellow French club Lens have already had a £7m bid rejected.
