Tottenham have finally completed the signing of Spanish wing-back Pedro Porro from Sporting Lisbon.
Antonio Conte had been looking to strengthen the right side of his defence this month and Spurs sealed the one-cap international’s services in the January window’s dying minutes.
The deal sees 23-year-old Porro arrive initially on loan, with the North Londoners obligated to make the switch permanent in summer.
He becomes the club’s second recruit of the January window after they landed Dutch forward Arnaut Danjuma on loan from Villarreal last week.
Conte has alternated between Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty at right wing-back this season, with the latter joining Atletico Madrid earlier on deadline day having agreed to mutually terminate his contract.
Meanwhile, Djed Spence — who has struggled to break into the first-team picture since arriving from Middlesbrough last summer — has joined French outfit Rennes for the rest of the campaign.
Conte will hope Porro can hit the ground running as Spurs look to close the three-point gap to fourth-placed Manchester United in the Premier League table.
The defender made 98 appearances for Sporting, winning the Primeira Liga title in 2020-21 and scoring on 12 occasions.
Porro, who leads the Portuguese league’s assists chart this term, will wear the No23 shirt for Spurs.
