Transfer Talk: City eye Mac Allister as Gundogan replacement

Manchester City are plotting a summer move for Brighton’s World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister.

Pep Guardiola is preparing for a midfield rebuild at the end of the current campaign, with Ilkay Gundogan reaching the expiry of his contract.

Bernardo Silva has also been linked with a move away from the champions as he pushes for a switch to LaLiga.

Spanish outlet Fichajes indicate Seagulls midfielder Mac Allister has been named as an ideal replacement.

The 24-year-old is enjoying a superb season under Roberto De Zerbi, scoring seven times in all competitions.

He also played a pivotal part of Argentina’s triumphant campaign in Qatar last year, starting six of their seven games and grabbing a superb assist in the final against France.

City’s boss is believed to be a big fan of Brighton’s No10, having proven himself as a capable Premier League producer.

It is indicated the South Coast club have set a £40million asking price for Mac Allister, with clubs chiefs more willing to part with him than in-demand defensive midfielder Moises Caicedo.
