Transfer Talk: Barca plot double Premier League swoop

Barcelona are preparing to sign Premier League duo Roberto Firmino and Ilkay Gundogan.

Liverpool centre forward Firmino, 31, will leave Anfield this summer when his contract expires.

Catalan title Sport say the Brazilian is eager to make a switch to the Camp Nou, to play second fiddle to talismanic goalscorer Robert Lewandowski.

Firmino has lifted the Premier League and Champions League during his time on Merseyside, as well as the FA Cup, Carabao Cup, Super Cup and Club World Cup.

Despite limited minutes this term due to a calf injury, he has netted eight goals and provided four assists in 18 Premier League outings.

The same outlet report that Xavi is eager to strengthen his midfield options ahead of next season.

And Manchester City No8 Gundogan is thought to be a preferred candidate.

Gundogan, 32, is also out of contract this summer and his six years at the Etihad under Pep Guardiola should ensure a seamless transition into Xavi’s starting XI.
