Saturday’s Premier League Bet Builder tips: Manchester United must earn Everton success

Man United have lost only one Premier League game at Old Trafford this season
Everton have won just once on the road and the joint-lowest top-flight scorers
Aston Villa are unbeaten in their last six games, winning five
Nottingham Forest have scored only five away Premier League goals this season

Manchester will be looking to maintain their top-four ambitions on Saturday when they take on an Everton side fighting for their Premier League lives.

Aston Villa are also making a late surge for the European places and similarly face a team struggling at the wrong of the table in Nottingham Forest.

These two clashes are the focus of our latest Saturday Bet Builders.

Manchester United vs Everton (Saturday, 12.30pm)

Bet 1: Manchester United to win

Manchester United got back to winning ways with a workmanlike 1-0 victory over Brentford side on Wednesday and can follow up in similar style against Everton.

The Toffees are much improved under Sean Dyche but have beaten only rock-bottom Southampton on the road this season and have lost five of their six trips to teams currently eighth or higher in the Premier League.

The absence of key midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure is a massive blow to Everton for this tough trip to Old Trafford as the Mali international’s steel and graft will be sorely missed.

A lack of goal threat in the continued absence of Dominic Calvert-Lewin further limits Everton’s chances of landing a shock result at Old Trafford.

Bet 2: Under three goals

That lack of threat is shown in Everton’s scoring record in visits to top-half teams, with the Toffees blanking in five of eight such games.

Manchester United are not the most potent attacking unit under Erik ten Hag either, with the Red Devils only the eighth-highest scorers in the top flight and scoring more than twice in only five of 28 league outings.

Ten Hag’s men had failed to score in three consecutive Premier League matches prior to Wednesday’s 1-0 victory over Brentford so it is unlikely the floodgates will open against a defensively compact Dyche side.

Bet 3: James Tarkowski to receive a card

Everton centre-back James Tarkowski was extremely fortunate not to receive a yellow card for a clear tactical foul against Tottenham in midweek and is never shy of using the dark arts to keep the opposition at bay.

The Toffees can expect to be under constant pressure away at Old Trafford and with the likes of in-form Marcus Rashford and tricky wingers Antony and Jadon Sancho running at the Everton backline, Tarkowski is likely to find himself forced into some tricky decisions.

The former Burnley man has picked up yellow cards in four of his last six league away games and will be lucky to avoid another on Saturday lunchtime.

Recommended Bet Builder: Manchester United to win, under three goals and James Tarkowski to receive a card at 9/1 with LiveScore Bet.

Aston Villa vs Nottingham Forest (Saturday, 3pm)

Bet 1: Aston Villa/Aston Villa Half Time/Full Time result

In-form Aston Villa host a Nottingham Forest side with the worst away record in the Premier League and it is hard to see anything other than a routine home win.

That is reflected in the prices so a shrewd way of bumping up the odds would be to back the Villans to take control early on, given Unai Emery’s men have scored in the first half of each of their last five league games.

Forest have netted only one first-half goal in their last five Premier League away games so the Villa/Villa double result looks an attractive option.

Bet 2: Under one Nottingham Forest goal

In all, Forest have scored a woeful five away goals in 2022-23 thus far, making them comfortably the Premier League’s least potent team on their travels.

And they visit an Aston Villa side who are an increasingly tight defensive unit, keeping four clean sheets in their last six outings.

That includes a 2-0 win away at Chelsea, so in-form goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez will be confident of keeping out toothless Forest.

Bet 3: Ollie Watkins to score at any time

At the other end of the pitch, Ollie Watkins will be licking his lips at the sight of a Forest defence that has been almost as bad as their attack on the road this season.

While relatively solid at the City Ground, Steve Cooper’s men have conceded a whopping 34 goals in 14 top-flight away games this term, handing them the second-worst defensive record in the Premier League.

Watkins has scored in eight of Villa’s last 10 league outings and Villa’s leading goalscorer will fancy his chances of racking up another goal or two against such a porous defence.

Recommended Bet Builder: Aston Villa/Aston Villa in the Half Time/Full Time market, Under one Nottingham Forest goal and Ollie Watkins to score anytime at more than 5/1 with LiveScore Bet.
