Transfer Talk: Red Devils ready to ramp up Kane pursuit

Manchester United are ready to ramp up their efforts to sign Tottenham talisman Harry Kane

The Telegraph claim the Red Devils are planning to make a bid for the England skipper, who is entering the final year of his deal and is unlikely to sign a new one.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy will now be faced with the decision of whether to sell the club’s prized asset or allow him to leave for free when his contract expires at the end of next season.

United know they cannot afford a transfer saga and risk missing out on other targets — such as Napoli’s Victor Osimhen — so want to get their business done early.

It has been suggested Spurs would be willing to listen to offers in the region of £80million from overseas for Kane, 29, but will demand at least £100m from fellow Premier League clubs.

A report in The Sun indicates United are willing to offer the striker a whopping £300,000-per-week contract to lure him to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are confident of landing Kane if Spurs finish outside the top four and that is now looking increasingly likely after Sunday’s 6-1 humiliation at Newcastle.

Spurs host fourth-placed United on Thursday sitting six points adrift of them in the race for the final Champions League spot.
