What are the big stories to look out for in the FA Cup third round?

While plenty of Premier League sides will fancy their chances of lifting the trophy this season, the traditional theme of the FA Cup third round is giant-killings.

Early Premier League leaders Arsenal will have to be on red alert, with the Gunners facing a tricky trip to the Kassam Stadium to take on Oxford.

Meanwhile, their North London rivals Tottenham do at least have home advantage to help them past third-tier Portsmouth as they hunt to end a painful 14-year trophy drought.

Another League One side, Wednesday, will be hoping to roll back the years when they welcome high-flying Newcastle to Hillsborough, while Aston Villa host League Two outfit Stevenage.

Three non-league sides will also test their luck against EFL opposition as Boreham Wood take on Accrington, Chesterfield host West Brom and Hollywood-owned Wrexham head to Coventry.

How much do clubs get paid for appearing in the FA Cup third round?

All winners in the FA Cup third round will net a cool £105,000.

That amount is particularly significant to the lower-ranked sides, who also enjoy a precious equal share of ticket sales from their respective tie.

The financial prize awaiting the club that lifts the trophy at Wembley on June 3 will be a hefty £2million.
