Aston Villa have announced the appointment of Villarreal manager Unai Emery as their new head coach.
The Spaniard will take over on November 1 once his work permit formalities are complete, replacing the sacked Steven Gerrard.
Emery, no stranger to the English top flight, managed Arsenal from 2018 to 2019.
After his departure from the Gunners, Emery joined Villarreal in 2020 and enjoyed a successful first season in charge, leading the side to Europa League glory.
He built on that success by reaching the Champions League semi-final in the following campaign.
