– Brighton have won seven of their eight home games against bottom-half teams this season
– Everton have conceded at least twice in 10 of their last 12 away matches in all competitions
– Recommended bet: Tie/Brighton Half Time/Full Time
Brighton maintained their push for a top-six finish in the Premier League on Thursday when a 99th-minute penalty from Alexis Mac Allister gave them a dramatic 1-0 win over Manchester United.
Roberto De Zerbi’s men face a different kind of test against Sean Dyche’s Everton, who are desperate for points in their struggle to avoid relegation from the top flight.
Four of the Toffees’ last five away matches have ended in draws, three of them 2-2, but Brighton have been ruthless against bottom-half teams at the Amex Stadium this season and should be confident of banking another three points.
Brighton vs Everton (Monday, 5.30pm)
Team news
Brighton will assess Pascal Gross and Evan Ferguson but Adam Lallana, Joel Veltman, Jakub Moder, Tariq Lamptey and Jeremy Sarmiento are injured.
Everton captain Seamus Coleman is unlikely to feature again this season after suffering a knee injury in the draw at Leicester.
Andros Townsend, Ruben Vinagre and Dele Alli are out and Ben Godfrey is unlikely to be risked but Amadou Onana is available.
The stats
Brighton have won six of their last eight Premier League home games to nil, while 11 of the Seagulls’ last 15 top-flight matches have been level at half-time.
Everton have won only one of their 17 away league games this term, against bottom club Southampton, while they have conceded at least twice in 10 of their last 12 road assignments in all competitions.
Brighton have won seven of their eight home games against bottom-half teams this season.
Prediction
Brighton’s patience was rewarded very late on in Thursday’s clash with Manchester United as a Luke Shaw handball deep into added time gave them the chance to take all three points.
Everton have won only once on the road in this season’s Premier League but their last five away results include draws at Nottingham Forest, Chelsea, Crystal Palace and Leicester and they may be able to stand firm until half-time.
Brighton’s run to the FA Cup semi-finals means they have a busy end-of-season schedule and De Zerbi left key trio Mac Allister, Kaoru Mitoma and Moises Caicedo out of his starting line-up for the recent 6-0 rout of Wolves.
The Seagulls have been leading at half-time in only four of their last 15 league games but they demonstrated the gulf in class between themselves and Everton in January’s 4-1 win at Goodison Park so the tie/Brighton Half Time/Full Time selection looks a decent bet.
