Emery ‘delighted’ after Spanish left-back Moreno makes Villa switch

Aston Villa have completed the signing of Spanish left-back Alex Moreno from Real Betis for an undisclosed fee.

Moreno becomes Unai Emery’s first signing since taking the managerial role at Villa Park last November.

Moreno, 29, won the Copa del Rey with Betis last term following previous spells at Mallorca and Rayo Vallecano.

Emery said: “Alex is a good player that can help our squad.

“He has been one of the top left-backs in LaLiga over the past few seasons and we are delighted to have him here.”

The defender’s move is subject to international clearance and a successful visa application.

Emery’s men face Leeds on Friday hoping to bounce back from a shock FA Cup third-round defeat to League Two outfit Stevenage last Sunday.
