Christian Eriksen has tipped Manchester United for a bright future under Erik ten Hag after signing a three-year contract with the Red Devils.
Danish midfielder Eriksen, 30, has been attracting interest from around Europe after successfully resuming his playing career at Brentford last term following his cardiac arrest in June 2021.
And the former Tottenham and Inter Milan star has opted for a move to Old Trafford rather than to stay with Thomas Frank’s outfit.
He will hope to play a pivotal role as Ten Hag looks to revitalise a United squad that slumped to a sixth-placed finish last term.
Eriksen said: “Manchester United is a special club, and I cannot wait to get started.
“I have had the privilege of playing at Old Trafford many times but to do it in the red shirt of United will be an amazing feeling.
“I have seen Erik’s work at Ajax and know the level of detail and preparation that he and his staff put into every day. It is clear that he is a fantastic coach.
“Having spoken with him and learned more about his vision and the way he wants the team to play, I am even more excited for the future.
“I still have major ambitions in the game, there is a huge amount that I know I can achieve, and this is the perfect place to continue my journey.”
Brentford were keen to retain Eriksen’s services but a string of fine performances in West London inevitably left him inundated with proposals from elsewhere.
He joins Tyrell Malacia in moving to Old Trafford this summer and will now set about impressing his new boss.
United have won both of their pre-season outings so far after beating Melbourne Victory 4-1 today following their 4-0 triumph over Liverpool on Tuesday.
