Five goalscorers to watch out for this weekend: Goals galore expected at the City Ground

Recommended bets:
Back Martin Odegaard to score against Nottingham Forest
Back Taiwo Awoniyi to score against Arsenal
Back Trent Alexander-Arnold to score against Aston Villa
Back Ruben Neves to score against Everton
Back Patrick Bamford to score against West Ham

It’s the penultimate Premier League gameweek week and goals will be at a premium for teams battling it out at both the top and bottom of the table. There’s a chance for players to become heroes and secure European football for their sides next season and legends if they can find the net and help keep their side in the top-flight.

Here are five goalscorers to watch out for this weekend.

Back Martin Odegaard to score at anytime @ 7/4

Arsenal’s title dreams were all but ended by a 3-0 defeat to Brighton last weekend and it will be interesting to see how the Gunners perform on their trip to Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

There have been 46 goals in Arsenal’s last 12 top-flight matches, with all but one of those games going over 2.5 goals and nine of them breaking the 3.5 goal mark. There appears to be a strong chance of goals at the City Ground and Martin Odegaard could well get on the scoresheet this weekend.

The Gunners captain has found his scoring boots, as Arsenal’s title bid has fallen apart, and it’s five goals in six matches for the Norwegian. The 24-year-old will be given licence to roam at the head of Mikel Arteta’s midfield and Odegaard could well be on penalty duty given Bukayo Saka’s recent failure from the spot.

Back Taiwo Awoniyi to score at anytime @ 13/8

Taiwo Awoniyi has proved a handful for defences for much of the season and the 25-year-old has finally been getting his reward in front of goal. The Nigerian has scored eight Premier League goals this season, but four of those have come in the Tricky Trees’ last two matches and that goal scoring run may continue against Arsenal on Saturday.

There have been 23 goals in Nottingham Forest’s last five matches. Steve Cooper has shown no signs of changing his positive approach and the strength of Awoniyi is the exact attribute that has been causing Arsenal problems in recent weeks.

Back Trent Alexander-Arnold to score at anytime @ 11/2

Liverpool have won seven straight Premier League matches, they are keeping the pressure on Man Utd and Newcastle in the battle for a top-four finish and the Reds have hit the net 20 times in those seven games.

There’s a wealth of attacking talent at Jurgen Klopp’s disposal with Mohamed Salah, Coady Gakpo and Luis Diaz in his ranks but full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold catches the eye this weekend.

Full-back would be a pretty weak description of the England man, who has been operating more like a number 10 in recent Liverpool matches.

Alexander-Arnold is a fantastic striker of the ball, the 24-year-old found the net at Leicester on Monday, he will be on free-kick duty, in a game where Liberpool should get plenty of chances, and he looks an interesting goalscoring prospect when Aston Villa visit Anfield.

Back Ruben Neves to score at anytime @ 5/2

Ruben Neves has hit six Premier League goals this term and the Wolves star may get on the scoresheet again when Everton come to Molineux on Saturday.

Everton’s need for points is far greater than their hosts, but Wolves have won four Molineux matches on the bounce, against good sides in Chelsea, Brentford, Palace and Villa, and their desire may not be quelled quite as much as expected.

Everton’s desperation could well spill over into indiscipline and it would not be a surprise if the physical Toffees gave away some dangerous free-kicks or even a penalty. That would bring set-piece master Neves into the picture and the Portuguese is one to keep an eye on this weekend.

Back Patrick Bamford to score at anytime @ 12/5

Leeds had a fantastic opportunity to move 2-0 up on Newcastle last weekend, but Partrick Bamford spurned a golden chance from the penalty spot and the Whites had to settle for a 2-2 draw.

A point is of no real use for Sam Allardyce’s side at West Ham on Sunday and that should see a forward-thinking approach. Bamford has endured an injury hit season, but he has found the net in recent games againstPalace and Bournemouth and the former Chelsea forward looks Leeds’ most likely scorer at the London Stadium.
