Hibernian vs Celtic predictions: Hoops can continue title charge

– Celtic are on an 11-game winning streak in the Premiership
– Celtic have managed one clean sheet in their last six league games
– Recommended bet: Celtic to win and both teams to score

Celtic will be eager to extend their healthy lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership table when they travel to Hibernian on Wednesday night.

The reigning champions have a nine-point lead over rivals Rangers, who also play on Wednesday night on home soil at Ibrox against Motherwell.

Ange Postecoglou’s Celtic are on an impressive 11-game winning run in the Premiership as they prepare for Wednesday’s trip to Easter Road.

Team news

After dismantling St Johnstone last time out with a 4-1 win at Parkhead on Christmas Eve, Postecoglou is unlikely to make too many changes for his side’s trip to Leith.

The Hoops found themselves four goals to the good against Saints with 52 minutes on the clock last time out, therefore allowing Australian tactician Postecoglou an opportunity to rest key players for the last half hour.

While both Jota and Liel Abada will be hoping to force their way back into the starting XI for the trip to the capital, the pair might have to settle for spots on the bench.

Celtic will have to do without Scotland midfielder David Turnbull after he was shown a red card late on in the win over St Johnstone.

Hibs boss Lee Johnson was also able to rest players in the last 30 minutes of his side’s 4-0 win over Livingston on Christmas Eve.

After seeing his side return to winning ways, it seems unlikely Johnson will tinker too much with his starting lineup for the arrival of the reigning champions.

The stats

Celtic have been on an impressive winning run in the league but Postecoglou still has defensive issues to address.

The Hoops have managed just one clean sheet in their last six league games and have already conceded 15 goals in their 18 games this season.

For context, last term Celtic only conceded 22 goals in the entire league campaign.

As for Hibernian, the Edinburgh outfit were on a four-game losing streak in the league before their much-needed victory over Livingston last time out.

Of the last three meetings between these two sides in all competitions at Easter Road, both teams have scored in two of them.

Prediction

With confidence sky high in the camp and with serious winning momentum behind them, it is difficult not to envisage Celtic heading back across the M8 with all three points.

However, Hibernian might well have their moments in this game and should make Postecoglou’s side work for the victory.

Considering Celtic’s defensive frailties but overall quality, a win for the reigning champions and both teams to score could be the way to go at 29/20 with LiveScore Bet.
