Pogba speaks out
The final days of Paul Pogba’s second stint at Manchester United are set to be laid bare in his upcoming Amazon Prime documentary this week.
‘The Pogmentary’, which is released on Friday, follows the 29-year-old Frenchman’s final year at Old Trafford, including contract talks which would ultimately end in a parting of ways.
In fresh trailer footage, Pogba is shown in conversation with his late agent Mino Raiola last July, discussing a contract offer from the Red Devils widely reported to be in excess of £300,000-per-week.
Pogba is dismissive of the proposal, saying: “How can you tell a player you absolutely want him [to stay] and then offer him nothing?”
In a later scene, he also adds: “My thought process is to show Manchester [United] that they made a mistake in waiting to give me a contract and to show other clubs that Manchester [United] had made a mistake in not offering me a contract.”
The World Cup-winning midfielder is expected to re-join former club Juventus on a four-year deal in the coming days.
New Premier League ball
Nike have unveiled their new Premier League ball design to be used during the 2022-23 Premier League campaign.
The Nike Flight design takes inspiration from the first ever Premier League campaign 30 years ago.
It will be available to purchase from Friday, July 15, ahead of the new season getting underway on Friday, August 5.
Three to resume Chelsea partnership
Telecommunications company Three have confirmed they will “restart marketing activities” at Chelsea and remain as lead shirt sponsor following the club’s recent takeover.
Their partnership with the Blues was temporarily suspended back in March after former owner Roman Abramovich was sanctioned by the UK government due to alleged links with Russian president Vladimir Putin.
American businessman Todd Boehly’s consortium finally completed their purchase of the club for £4.25billion last month however, meaning the three-year sponsorship agreement can now resume.
A statement from Chelsea’s head of global partnerships, John Rogers, read: “Following the recent pause in their activities, the club is pleased to have resumed our work with Three and we look forward with excitement to the start of the new season, together.
“We would like to thank all club partners for their support now and in the future.”
