Granovskaia departs in latest Blues shake-up
Chelsea have confirmed director Marina Granovskaia will leave the club as part of their boardroom overhaul following Todd Boehly’s takeover.
It follows the announcement on Monday that Bruce Buck will step down as chairman after 19 years in the role.
American businessman Boehly will become chairman and interim sporting director, with Granovskaia assisting with transfers for the remainder of the current window.
Chelsea’s statement said: “Boehly will operate as interim sporting director until the club names a full-time replacement, continuing the club’s work towards its targets during the current transfer window.
“Chelsea and Ms Granovskaia have agreed that she will remain available to Boehly and the club for the departure of the current transfer window, to the extent required to support the transition.”
Granovskaia worked as previous owner Roman Abramovich’s representative before joining the Chelsea board in 2013, when she began playing a key role in transfer dealings.
Boehly added: “We thank Marina for her many years of excellent service to the club and wish her all the best in her future ventures.”
Kane O-ver the moon to continue sponsorship
England captain Harry Kane will sponsor League Two club Leyton Orient’s shirt for the third season running.
The Tottenham striker, 28, played his first professional game while on loan at the O’s in 2011 and will support mental health charity Shout on the front-of-shirt space.
Kane has supported veterans charity Tommy Club and the NHS in previous years as sponsor.
Orient will also give 10% of proceeds from the upcoming season’s shirt sales to the charity.
Kane told their official club website: “I am thrilled to be sponsoring Leyton Orient’s kits for a third season.
“I was born only a couple of miles from Orient’s stadium and am really happy to give back to the club that gave me my first professional start.
“I am pleased to welcome Shout to this partnership. Covid-19 has presented many challenges, and these have affected the mental health and wellbeing of many people.
“Shout provide a vital helpline and resources to the public, helping to positively improve mental health and wellbeing.
“The special charities I have chosen for the front of shirts all mean a lot to me, and I hope this platform will help them receive the exposure and support they need.”
Tevez salutes Conte after taking first management role
Carlos Tevez has named Tottenham boss Antonio Conte as one of his biggest influences after taking his first managerial role at Argentinian side Rosario Central.
The former Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus striker, 38, will take his first steps into management in the Argentine top flight after announcing his retirement from playing earlier this month.
Having worked under Conte while still a player in Turin, Tevez revealed he will try to emulate the Italian coach in the way he sets up at Rosario.
In his first press conference as manager, he said: “I have a great reference who was [Antonio] Conte at Juventus. He was one of those who taught me the most as a player.
“I’m going to try to get the team to play at least a little bit, or half the way his team played.”
Rosario currently sit 23rd out of 28 in the Argentine Primera Division having played four games of the second phase of the season.
