Scamacca close to Premier League start
David Moyes has hinted that Gianluca Scamacca could be in line for his first Premier League start this weekend.
The Italian striker, signed from Sassuolo this summer, has already scored two goals for the Hammers.
Although both have come in their Europa Conference League play-off, where the East London side comfortably progressed.
After impressing in the 3-0 second-leg win against Viborg in Denmark last night, Moyes has conceded that his No7 is close to a starting spot.
The Irons boss said: “I thought Gianluca did a lot of good things.
“Again, we can’t be expecting too much from him too soon. We need to give him a chance to get ready, but he certainly did a great job for us.
“Look, he scored two goals for us in two games, so he’s certainly getting a lot closer to being ready to play now.”
West Ham face Aston Villa on Sunday where they will be hoping to end their winless run in the league.
Hasenhuttl backs United for silverware
Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has backed Manchester United to challenge for silverware this season, despite their mixed start.
Saints will face United at St Mary’s on Saturday, with Erik ten Hag’s side fresh off a huge win over Liverpool.
Before that, the Red Devils had lost their opening two games, but Hasenhuttl has backed the new identity introduced by the former Ajax coach.
He said: “This is a team that has a new manager — it is not surprising that it doesn’t work immediately everything perfectly.
“I see a very clear identity of what they’re doing now, what they want to do now.
“You are speaking still about a top team that is going for titles and will also do this this season.
“If you beat Liverpool, this is a big sign, a big message to everybody that they are definitely in a good way and I see the clear identity of what they want to do and after all the problems they had.
“We are definitely facing a very strong team here and in the end it’s up to us to keep on going in the way we want to go.”
