Broja is Auba the moon
Armando Broja is relishing working alongside new Chelsea team-mate Pierre-Emerick Aubamayeng.
The 20-year-old striker is expected to provide back-up to former Arsenal skipper Aubameyang, who made a last-gasp switch to the Blues on transfer deadline day last week.
But Broja, who recently signed a new six-year deal with his boyhood club, is ready to grab any opportunities that come his way having already made five appearances from the bench this term.
He said: “Auba’s a great player who has done a lot in his career so far and I can learn a lot from him.
“He’s done it at Arsenal and at Barcelona so he’s a good addition and he seems like a very good guy.
“I’m excited to learn from him and a few things he has learned over the years. It’s always good to have that competition in the team.
“Everywhere you go in football, there’s competition and that’s just normal. For me, it’s just about being focused, keeping my head down and working hard.
“Hopefully that leads to many more opportunities but I’m thankful for those I’ve had so far.
“Chelsea have put their faith in me since I was a young player. They’ve always taught me to be resilient and a hard worker and always focus on football.
“I just want to repay their faith with my performances on the pitch, by scoring goals and winning matches.”
Walsh is ‘one of the best’
Izzy Christiansen claims Keira Walsh’s departure for Barcelona is a huge blow to both Manchester City and the Women’s Super League.
England international Walsh, 25, completed a record-breaking switch to the Spanish giants yesterday after eight years with City.
And Christiansen, who has starred alongside the midfielder for both club and country, believes Barca have landed one of the best players around.
The Everton ace said: “She’s one of the best midfielders in the world.
“The rise of her, from the player she was when she joined us at City at the age of 16 to the player she’s become, she’s absolutely deserving of this move and I hope it really works out for her.
“After one or two training sessions at City, you just knew this girl was special. Massive credit to manager Nick Cushing and City for developing her into the player she is.
“It’s a super move for Keira and I wish her well.
“It’s a shame for WSL fans that players of that quality are no longer playing in England but the game is so big now that you’ve got teams who are European giants investing massively in their women’s teams.
“In general, for global football, I think it’s really good news. City have recruited exceptionally well with young players and I think it’s possibly the start of a new era for them.”
