To be Frank, Everton are not happy
Everton have reportedly complained to the Premier League about recent decisions made by match officials.
The Toffees were left fuming at the weekend after Manchester City ace Rodri appeared to handle the ball in the box.
City were leading at the time thanks to Phil Foden’s goal but the VAR decided not to award a penalty to the hosts — much to the dismay of boss Frank Lampard and his coaching staff.
And that controversial call appears to have been the final straw for the men from Goodison.
Speaking after the 1-0 defeat, Lampard raged: “Manchester City fans and players will know they’ve got away with one.
“The arm is out, he moves his arm to the ball, all the criteria are hit [for a handball]. It’s a really bad day for VAR — they’ve got that wrong.
“VAR have two minutes to look at it and they have not given that as a penalty when it strikes him on the arm, in an unnatural position.
“I have a three-year-old daughter at home who could tell you that was a penalty.”
Clarets have hope
James Tarkowski is convinced Burnley will beat the drop.
The Clarets have taken seven points from their last three Premier League games and can drag themselves out of the bottom three by beating Leicester tomorrow night.
And Tarkowski, 29, believes Sean Dyche’s side will keep the momentum going when the Foxes visit Turf Moor.
He said: “Everyone had an honest and open discussion about where we were at and what needed to change. We’ve gone back to basics now.
“We feel like we’re one of the fittest teams in the league — we just want to get out there and play games.
“There was a tough period at Christmas, personally and as a team, but everyone’s picked up.
“I’m pleased overall but it needs to be consistent going forwards.”
Roman in peace talks
Roman Abramovich’s spokesman has revealed that Chelsea’s owner is attempting to broker peace talks between Russia and Ukraine.
The news follows the Russian billionaire’s decision to hand stewardship and care of the Blues to trustees of the club’s charitable foundation.
His spokesperson said: “I can confirm that Roman Abramovich was contacted by the Ukrainian side for support in achieving a peaceful resolution and that he has been trying to help ever since.
“Considering what is at stake, we would ask for your understanding as to why we have not commented on neither the situation as such nor his involvement. Thank you.”
