Chelsea get Real
Carlo Ancelotti will come up against former club Chelsea after the Champions League quarter-final draw paired Real Madrid with the European champions.
The Italian tactician, 62, led the Blues to Premier League and FA Cup glory in 2009-10 before being axed the following season.
He has guided in-form Real to a comfortable lead at the top of LaLiga and will be keen to put one over his former employers.
Due to the situation Chelsea currently find themselves in, it is unlikely fans will be allowed to buy tickets for the first leg at Stamford Bridge next month.
Reflecting on that and the draw, boss Thomas Tuchel said: “It would be a disadvantage [not having any fans]. In general, this game is for the spectators.
“The game can change so much with spectators, so hopefully we find a solution.”
Real have extra incentive to even the score with Chelsea having been dumped out of the Champions League semi-finals by Tuchel’s men last term.
Tuchel, 48, added: “The challenge cannot be much higher than playing the second leg in the Bernabeu with spectators.
“It is a big challenge and also there’s big excitement around this match and fixture. We know what is coming and it will be a tough challenge.”
The Art of attack
Mikel Arteta has warned his Arsenal stars to beware the threat posed by Philippe Coutinho.
The Gunners head to Aston Villa tomorrow looking to consolidate their position in the Premier League’s top four.
And Arteta is all too aware that Coutinho, 29, has the ability to cause any side problems.
He said: “The team activates a lot of things when he’s on the ball so obviously it’s something we have to bear in mind.
“[He has the] ability to create goals and chances and unlock spaces when they don’t exist. That’s something he did consistently when he was at Liverpool.”
Klopp eyes Wembley
Jurgen Klopp would love to return to Wembley — but the German insists Liverpool cannot overlook Nottingham Forest.
The Carabao Cup winners head to the City Ground tomorrow with a place in the FA Cup semi-finals up for grabs.
And Klopp, 54, said: “It was a while since we played a final at Wembley [before the Carabao Cup]. The atmosphere the people created was no difference to the Champions League final.
“This is a fantastic opportunity. It’s nice to play semis at Wembley but the real deal is a few weeks later.”
