Title parade
Manchester City will parade the Premier League trophy as they travel through the city centre on an open-top bus this evening.
Pep Guardiola and his title-winning squad will depart from Exchange Square at about 6pm BST, travel on to St Mary’s Gate and then south on Deansgate before finishing at the Beetham Tower with a live stage show.
Entertainment at the Beetham Tower will begin from 4.30pm, with the players expected to arrive at about 7pm.
There will be live music from bands and DJs, while former City stars will be among a host of special guests.
The event will be non-ticketed and the club have advised supporters to arrive early.
Rollercoaster ride
Mason Mount insists Chelsea will come back stronger next season after a rollercoaster campaign on and off the pitch.
With the club’s ownership saga rumbling on in the background, Mount was named the Blues’ Player of the Season ahead of yesterday’s 2-1 win over relegated Watford.
And the England international, 23, is confident the European Super Cup winners and Club World Cup champions will be back in the title picture in 2022-23.
He said: “It has been a rollercoaster of a season. I feel like you always say that at the end of a season but this season and the circumstances we have had to go through have been different.
“Yes, we could have done better, we strive to do better, but the way the boys have handled it throughout the season, the staff, us as a club, has been brilliant and we will be back next season.
“We just fell short with a couple of trophies this season and obviously in the Premier League, but we are ready to go again.
“It is a little break now but we know we can be up there, we know we can compete against these top teams, but we need to be consistent.
“That is something we will look at and hopefully we can do that next season.”
Chelsea lost the Carabao Cup final to Liverpool on penalties in February before suffering the same fate at the hands of Jurgen Klopp’s side in the FA Cup final earlier this month.
Ready to go
Erik ten Hag cannot wait to get stuck in to his new job as Manchester United boss.
The 52-year-old Dutchman, who brought the curtain down on his time at Ajax by winning the Eredivisie title this term, is determined to lift the gloom at Old Trafford.
He said: “I really look forward to doing this job, at this club with massive history, and we want to restore it where it belongs.
“First of all, we want to make the fans proud. Second, the current situation is obviously not that good. It’s a big challenge.
“I want to build and construct a team who are battling for each other, who are unified and who will get results.
“We want to entertain. But in the end, the intention is to play fantastic football. If we can’t play fantastic football, we still have to win.”
