Kane blame

Sean Dyche has slammed Harry Kane for his theatrics in Monday night’s clash at Goodison Park.

Everton midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure was shown a red card for raising a hand towards the Tottenham talisman just before the hour mark.

Kane opened the scoring soon after but Michael Keane earned Dyche’s men a precious point in the 90th minute.

Ahead of Saturday’s trip to Manchester United, the Toffees boss said: “Someone gets flicked in the eyelash and it becomes a big situation. That’s just the way it is now.

“Harry Kane is a great pro but some of it leaves you scratching your head. I don’t regard that as cheating. It’s gamesmanship.

“Everyone has become so precious haven’t they? The rules are so precious, in society as well as football.

“If lads go down in training here I do tell them to get up. I have my own authentic standards.”

Being Frank

Frank Lampard has distanced himself from claims he attended Chelsea’s goalless draw with Liverpool on Tuesday night knowing he would later be offered a caretaker role at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues fired Graham Potter on Sunday, appointing Lampard on a temporary basis on Thursday.

Lampard played over 600 times for the West Londoners between 2001 and 2014 and spent 18 months in the dugout before being fired in January 2021.

But the 44-year-old English coach says his presence at the game was unconnected to the vacant managerial position.

He confirmed: “I can imagine what it might look like but I can guarantee you I arranged to be at the game two weeks ago.

“I hadn’t been back to Stamford Bridge for a long time. I was working for a lot of that time as well and before then there was Covid.

“With a club where I have this affiliation, of course there is a feeling of home when you come here so I wanted to go back to a game.

“I was there and of course we’re here now, but that was arranged two or three weeks ago.”
