More than a goalscorer

Mikel Arteta insists he is not worried by a lack of goals from Gabriel Jesus.

The Brazilian striker, 25, netted five in his first nine appearances for Arsenal after switching from Manchester City in the summer.

But he has failed to find the net in his last eight outings in all competitions for the Premier League leaders.

Despite seeing Jesus fire blanks in recent weeks, Arteta is more than happy with his star man’s overall contribution.

Speaking ahead of the trip to London rivals Chelsea on Sunday, the Gunners boss said: “He is getting the situations, he’s getting the chances, he’s contributing to the team an awful lot.

“He’s helping to win matches and the way he competes for every ball in every single action is incredible.”

Let’s be Frank

Thomas Frank feels it was always going to take Nottingham Forest time to gel following a hectic transfer window.

The Premier League newcomers signed 22 players during the summer after securing promotion via the play-offs.

And although they sit bottom of the table, Frank believes Forest — who beat Liverpool 1-0 just a fortnight ago — will provide his Brentford side with a stern test at the City Ground tomorrow.

The Bees boss, 49, said: “We all know the best teams are built over time with consistency and they have brought quite a few players in, so to gel and to find the right relationships takes time no matter who you are.

“They have found their feet and I think they are competing well. They have made it very difficult for teams at home. The City Ground is a top place to go, with some very good fans.

“We know it is going to be difficult but I am convinced we will learn from our recent experiences and put a good performance in.”

Brentford have conceded nine goals in their last two league outings away from home. They were hammered 5-1 at Newcastle before going down 4-0 at Aston Villa last month.
