Klopp’s take
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was impressed with his side’s resilience as they overcame Wolves in the FA Cup third-round replay.
Harvey Elliott’s strike from distance was the difference between and the Reds kept the Midlands club at arm’s length throughout the match.
Liverpool will now travel to Brighton in the fourth round as they look to continue their defence of the trophy.
And the German coach hailed his players’ ability to bounce back from what he described as one of their worst-ever performances against the Seagulls last week.
He said: “Everybody got that reaction, it was the reaction we needed to show.
“The game was completely different to last time. I’m really happy with that. All the individual performances were good.
“It was good and I said to the boys after the game that’s how it feels when you play well and win. That’s why we are quite happy.
“We were compact, together and we had good challenges. We played really good football and scored an exceptional goal. Harvey saw something not a lot of people have seen. I wouldn’t have expected a shot in that moment.”
Ten Hag’s triumph
Erik ten Hag has admitted he now fully trusts his players after their strong run of form in recent weeks.
Manchester United won their ninth game in a row with victory over rivals Manchester City and could move to ten should they beat Crystal Palace tonight.
The Red Devils suffered a slow start under the former Ajax boss but have since recovered and find themselves in with a shot at the title.
Speaking ahead of the Palace game, Ten Hag said: “The way they transferred the plan [against City] in the game, I think was brilliant.
“You see how they are in possession, but also out of possession — the pressing, how we defended the front three of Manchester City I think was really good.
“I trust them. They were behind the plan fully 100% and they controlled long periods of the game in the first half.”
United could climb into second in the Premier League with a win tonight — just six points off Arsenal with a trip to the Emirates scheduled for this Sunday.
Edwards ecstatic
Rob Edwards was ecstatic with Luton’s last-gasp winner at Wigan that saw them progress to the fourth round of the FA Cup.
The Hatters were held at home and had to do it the hard way in a replay but eventually won out courtesy of an Elijah Adebayo strike.
Edward’s side will now face League Two Grimbsy at home in the next round and the former Watford manager expressed his delight with the away side’s performance.
He said: “I was really pleased with the start, we had a couple of chances early on. They were obviously a threat on the counter-attack and with set-pieces, which we knew.
“We started the second half badly, a fantastic goal from their point of view, but defensively we could do better. But we responded very quickly which was important.
“We had to defend well at times, which you’re always going to have to do when the opposition goes direct.
“But I’m delighted to win, especially so late on. And I’m delighted for the lad [Adebayo], because he’s worked so hard in the last couple of games in particular.”
