– Manchester United are unbeaten in 16 games in all competitions at home
– Leicester have scored 11 goals in their last four matches in all competitions
– Recommended bet: United to win and both teams to score
Manchester United will look to extend their unbeaten run to eight matches when they host an improving Leicester in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils have not lost a domestic home game since the opening weekend of the season, but they face a Leicester side that have pulled two wins clear of the relegation zone after taking seven points from the last nine available.
Team news
United boss Erik ten Hag will still be without midfielder Casemiro as he serves the final match of his violent conduct ban, although the Brazilian will be available for next week’s Carabao Cup final.
Fellow midfielder Antony will also miss out due to a minor leg injury, while Scott McTominay remains doubtful.
Sunday’s game comes too soon for Anthony Martial, while Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek are out for the foreseeable future.
Leicester coach Brendan Rodgers should welcome back Youri Tielemans after he missed last week’s 4-1 win over Tottenham with a calf injury, and Boubakary Soumare could join him as he prepares to return for the first time in two months following a hamstring problem.
However, Jonny Evans, Ryan Bertrand and James Justin will all miss the tie this weekend through injury.
The stats
United have scored at least once in each of their last 27 Premier League matches against Leicester; only Manchester City against Newcastle (28) have enjoyed a better run.
United have lost just three of their last 21 Premier League matches, while they have won nine of their last 10 in all competitions at Old Trafford.
Leicester have won three games in a row in all competitions, while they are hoping to win three consecutive Premier League matches for the first time since January 2021.
Prediction
Games between Manchester United and Leicester have been entertaining in recent years, with both teams scoring in five of the last six meetings.
While United have only won one of the last six meetings between the pair, that came in their most recent clash earlier this season, winning 1-0 at the King Power Stadium Stadium.
United have been in excellent form after some initial struggles under Ten Hag, particularly at Old Trafford and home advantage should prove decisive.
Leicester though have turned a corner, helped by James Maddison’s return to fitness, and they will be expecting to score, having notched four in each of their last two games, coupled with the fact that United’s defensive lynchpin Casemiro continues to watch from the sidelines.
Ten Hag’s men have conceded five goals in their last four matches, but having scored eight in the same run, they should have enough firepower to prevail this weekend, particularly with Marcus Rashford bang in form.
Back Manchester United to win and both teams to score @ 17/10.
