Newcastle claimed a priceless three points against Burnley to lift them off the bottom of the Premier League table.
It was their first win of the season and takes them above Norwich on goal difference.
The visitors almost took the lead early on but Jóhann Berg Guðmundsson’s shot deflected just wide. Martin Dubravka may have had it covered.
Newcastle’s all-important goal arrived when Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope tried to collect a cross, but fell on Fabian Schar and lost the ball.
Callum Wilson was on hand to pounce, finishing well through traffic.
Wilson has now scored 18 Premier League goals for Newcastle, more than twice as many as any other player for the Magpies since he joined the club at the start of last season.
