– 11 of Harry Kane’s 23 PL goals have come from set pieces or penalties — both Bournemouth weaknesses
– Spurs are stronger after HT and the Cherries have lost 10/15 PL second halves away
– Wolves come up against a Brentford side that have been giving away corners aplenty
Two relegation-threatened clubs that picked up vital wins over Easter are in action again this Saturday when Bournemouth travel to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and Wolves entertain Brentford.
These two clashes are the focus of our latest Saturday Bet Builder.
Tottenham vs Brentford (Saturday, 3pm)
Bet 1: Harry Kane to score anytime
After gorging himself on six goals in his first three games against the Cherries, Kane has failed to find the back of Bournemouth’s net in five of six since.
There may be no better chance for the England skipper to put that right than when facing a side prone to conceding from set-pieces and giving away penalties.
Only Nottingham Forest have conceded more spot-kicks than the Cherries’ seven this term, while no team comes within five of their 17 goals shipped from set-plays, including 15 from corners.
Seven of Kane’s 23 Premier League goals in 2022-23 stemmed from set-pieces, with a further four converted from the penalty spot.
Bet 2: Over 2 cards in the match for Tottenham
Spurs are not quite the Premier League’s bad boys, but they currently stand fourth to last in the disciplinary standings with 60 yellows and three red cards this season.
Their card totals have been creeping up of late with Spurs collecting three or more cautions in four of their last five matches in all competitions, a run of games in which they have also seen two players sent off.
Bet 3: Second-half result will be Tottenham
Spurs are a second-half team — only Arsenal and Manchester City have scored more goals after the break than them.
Tottenham’s goal difference remains dead level before the interval, but they have bagged 13 goals more than they have shipped in the second halves of their games.
On the other hand, Bournemouth have been wilting after the break in their away games this season, losing the second 45-minute period in 10 of their 15 road trips.
Wolves vs Brentford (Saturday, 3pm)
Bet 1: Wolves to win to nil
Wolves have won four of their past six Premier League home games and kept clean sheets in each of those wins.
Julen Lopetegui’s side have shown a rapid improvement at the back after recording only four shutouts in their previous 19 league games at Molineux.
A defensive bedrock could be the key to beating a Brentford side who have been misfiring on the road of late, failing to notch in two of their last four Premier League away games.
Bet 2: Joao Gomes to receive a card
Brazilian midfielder Gomes arrived at Molineux with the nickname ‘Pitbull’ and a prior record with Flamengo of collecting around one yellow card every two games he played.
So far, he has lived up to expectations and even outdone himself with three cautions in his first five Premier League games, of which only two have been starts.
While Ruben Neves serves the second game of his suspension, Gomes will once more be in the thick of the scrap for possession on Saturday against Brentford and could easily add to that tally.
Bet 3: Over four corners in the match for Wolves
The home side are enjoying a bit of a purple patch on the corners front, registering eight against Chelsea last Saturday to make it 17 in total from their last three home games.
And they are coming up against a side in Brentford that regularly leak high numbers of corners to their opponents, such as 14 against Brighton and 11 to Man Utd recently.
The Bees’ opponents have won five or more corners in 19 of their 30 Premier League games this term, so Wolves will also have a good chance of grabbing at least a handful.
