– Manchester City have netted three or more goals in 11 of their last 13 home matches
– Both teams have scored in each of Tottenham’s last eight Premier League games
– Marc Roca of Leeds and Tottenham’s Cristian Romero are no strangers to referees
Sam Allardyce returns to management, attempting to pull off another great Premier League escape, with his struggling Leeds side heading to title-chasing Manchester City at 3pm, which is the same time as Tottenham quest to keep their European qualification hopes alive at home to London rivals Crystal Palace.
These two matches are the focus of our latest Saturday Bet Builder.
Manchester City vs Leeds (Saturday, 3pm)
Bet 1: Over 2.5 Manchester City goals
Manchester City are getting stronger as the season reaches the business end and even accounting for Allardyce’s appointment, it would be an almighty surprise were they to slip-up here at the Etihad.
The Citizens have won 13 straight home games and they have netted at least three goals in 11 of those victories, only failing to do so against Arsenal and Newcastle.
A relegation-threatened Leeds are not in the same mould as those opponents and they have the worst defensive record in the Premier League. Having leaked 23 goals in their last seven games, Allardyce may struggle to fix those defensive flaws in such a quick time.
Bet 2: Over 6 Manchester City corners
Leeds will sit deep and attempt to soak up the pressure under Allardyce’s defensive-minded tactics and that could enable City to rack up the corners as they push for the opening goal.
Pep Guardiola’s side are averaging 6.82 corners per game at home in the Premier League this season and Leeds are going to have plenty of men behind the ball, so expect City to bolster that tally.
Bet 3: Marc Roca to be shown a card
With Tyler Adams injured, Allardyce isn’t blessed with many suitable midfield options so Marc Roca looks likely to retain his place despite Leeds’ poor form.
City are going to dominate possession so the visitors will have to do lots of work off the ball and Spanish hothead Roca looks an ideal candidate for a card.
The 26-year-old has picked up yellow cards in two of his last three appearances against Fulham and Leicester and another caution may follow as Leeds look set to get frustrated at the Etihad.
Tottenham vs Crystal Palace (Saturday, 3pm)
Bet 1: Both teams to score
Both Tottenham and Crystal Palace were involved in 4-3 thrillers last time out, with Spurs being edged out by Liverpool at Anfield and the Eagles prevailing at home in a classic to West Ham.
That topsy-turvy defeat on Merseyside means Tottenham have now seen both teams score in each of their last eight Premier League matches and Palace have the pace going forward to extend that sequence.
Spurs have scored at least twice in six of their last eight league games while Palace have scored away at Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United in the Premier League this season.
Bet 2: Harry Kane to score at anytime
Despite Tottenham’s inconsistencies, Harry Kane has had no problem racking up the goals and the England international took his tally for the season to 25 in last weekend’s defeat at Liverpool.
Kane, whose goal scoring chances are enhanced by being on penalty duty, has failed to score in only two of his last 10 matches for club and country and it will be difficult for Palace to contain him.
The 29-year-old has also netted in five of his last six meetings with the Eagles.
Bet 3: Cristian Romero to be shown a card
Cristian Romero regularly falls foul to the referee, having picked up 12 yellows and two reds in 32 appearances this season, and Palace have the attacking assets to push the buttons of the Argentine.
Romero is an excellent defender but loses concentration regularly and is almost always guaranteed to commit a foul. He has been booked in three of his last six starts and may be unable to avoid another caution in this London rivalry.
