Southgate leaves Southampton Lion in wait for City in FA Cup quarter-finals

England boss Gareth Southgate paired Southampton with Manchester City when he made the draw for the FA Cup quarter-finals.

In another mouth-watering tie, Middlesbrough — who have already knocked out Manchester United and Tottenham — will host last season’s runners-up Chelsea at the Riverside Stadium.

The Three Lions chief picked out the all-important numbers ahead of Everton’s clash with Boreham Wood at Goodison Park.

Awaiting the victors of that match will be a trip to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace.

The City Ground is set to stage the final fifth-round tie between Nottingham Forest and Huddersfield on Monday, with the winners tackling Liverpool for a place in the semi-finals.

FA Cup quarter-final draw

Crystal Palace vs Everton or Boreham Wood

Nottingham Forest or Huddersfield vs Liverpool
