New Burnley striker Wout Weghorst opened his Clarets account — and the scoring — by rifling a cut-back from Conor Roberts high inside the near post.
The visitors doubled their advantage five minutes before half-time as Josh Brownhill surged into the box and steered a low effort into the corner.
Aaron Lennon sealed the three points when he made it 3-0 in style, rattling in off the crossbar after working a yard in the centre of the area.
