Stat Attack: All you need to know about Brighton 1-1 Crystal Palace

Joachim Andersen’s late own goal snatched a point for Brighton in an action-packed 1-1 draw with rivals Crystal Palace.

The hosts almost took the lead five minutes before half-time when Pascal Gross missed a penalty while Neal Maupay had a goal ruled out by VAR.

But it was the Eagles who went ahead in the 69th minute when Conor Gallagher got on the end of Jeffrey Schlupp’s pull-back to fire past Robert Sanchez.

Yet with three minutes remaining, Graham Potter’s side drew level after Andersen turned Maupay’s cross into his own net.

Potter was delighted with his side’s performance. He said: “I thought we were fantastic, first half especially. Can’t get much more dominant that.

“Overall, the performance and character of the team to recover from the setback of missing a penalty and conceding, to come back, really pleasing.

“I can’t be anything but pleased with how we went about our work tonight.”

While Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira was equally thrilled with his side’s display. He said: “I am happy with the draw and the point we took back home.

“Brighton were really dominant but they were getting frustrated because they couldn’t create many chances and they took more risks as the game went on.

“We were patient and we defended well, and we are going back with a point.”
