The Clarets did register a chance of their own through Chris Wood, but his header from Dwight McNeil’s early corner.
The England international goalkeeper was called into action in the 26th minute, keeping out Issa Diop’s header from close range.
Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek both had efforts go over the crossbar before Pope denied Jarrod Bowen as the match drew to a close.
