Stat Attack: All you need to know about Leeds 0-0 Aston Villa

Leeds held out for a 0-0 draw against Aston Villa at Elland Road despite being reduced to 10 men after Luis Sinisterra was sent off.

The first half was a fiery, even affair, with Rodrigo looking particularly threatening — but both sides lacked composure in front of goal.

Leeds were a man down soon after the restart as Sinisterra was shown a second yellow card for failing to retreat 10 yards following a Villa free-kick.

However, Villa were unable to capitalise on man advantage and — despite testing Illan Meslier on several occasions — the spoils were ultimately shared.

Leeds striker Patrick Bamford insisted the Whites deserved a point for their performance.

He said: “Circumstances made [the game] a bit more difficult. The boys on the pitch the whole game were outstanding and we deserved a point.

“Villa had a game plan and part of that was slowing down our momentum. That worked to a point and then the tables turned in the second half and we had to do a bit of that ourselves.

“It was nice to be back on the pitch. You just want to play football, so hopefully I can now put some momentum together and start scoring some goals.”

Did you know?

Leeds have won just two of their last 15 home games against Villa in all competitions (eight draws, five defeats) and remain winless against the Villans at Elland Road since December 2016 (five games).

Leeds remain unbeaten at Elland Road in the league so far this season (two wins, two draws) — just the third time they have avoided defeat in each of their first four Premier League home games of a campaign.

Villa have been involved in 106 goalless draws in the Premier League, more than any other side in the competition’s history.

Since the start of last season, only Everton (six) have been shown more Premier League red cards than Leeds (four). Additionally, Villa have seen their opponents receive 16 red cards in the competition since their return in 2019-20, more than any other side.

Ashley Young (37y 85d) became the oldest player to create five or more chances in a single Premier League game since Paul Scholes against QPR in April 2012 (5 — 37y 144d).
