Bruno Guimaraes’ stoppage-time winner handed Newcastle a dramatic 2-1 win over Leicester at St. James’ Park.
Brendan Rodgers made a host of changes from the side that sealed progress to the Europa Conference League semi-finals in midweek.
Yet it was the Foxes who took the lead in the 19th minute as Ademola Lookman finished off a brilliant corner routine.
But the Magpies drew level on the half-hour mark when Guimaraes tapped past Leicester skipper Kasper Schmeichel after a lengthy VAR check.
Guimaraes then capped a stunning performance by turning Joe Willock’s cross into the back of the net with a powerful diving header in the 95th minute.
Victory for Eddie Howe’s side means they have won five successive home Premier League games for the first time in three years and climb to 14th in the table.
