Stat Attack: All you need to know about Wolves 0-3 Brighton

Wolves’ hopes of earning European football were dealt a serious blow by a 3-0 thumping at Molineux at the hands of Brighton.

Alexis Mac Allister was given the chance to put the Seagulls ahead from the spot after Roman Saiss handled in the area, but Jose Sa made a fine stop low to his right.

The attacking midfielder redeemed himself just before half-time however as Willy Boly tripped Danny Welbeck in the box and another penalty was awarded. This time Mac Allister kept his cool to make it 1-0.

Brighton doubled their advantage in the 70th minute as Leandro Trossard was played in down the right before cutting in and lashing into the far corner with his left foot.

Yves Bissouma rounded things off late on when he collected the ball on the edge of the area before rifling low into the bottom corner.

Brighton have earned 44 points this season, their best return in a Premier League campaign since their promotion in 2017.

Since the start of last season, no team has lost more home games in the Premier League than Wolves (16, level with Everton). Only the bottom two sides Watford (14) and Norwich (11) have lost more at home than Wolves this season (eight).

Brighton have won three of their last four away league games (L1), more than they had in their previous 12 on the road (W2 D7 L3). Today was their joint-biggest away win in Premier League history.

Brighton had nine shots on target against Wolves today – only against Crystal Palace in December 2019 (10) have the Seagulls had more in a single Premier League match (187 games).

Mac Allister became the seventh player to both score and miss a penalty in the first half of a Premier League game, and the first since Jamie Vardy in November 2020 (also against Wolves).
