Stat Attack: All you need to know about Wolves 1-1 Newcastle

Allan Saint-Maximin rescued a point for Newcastle in the 90th minute in a game that witnessed two wonder goals.

Ruben Neves lit up the first half with a trademark strike from distance to send the home side in at half time 1-0 up.

But Saint-Maximin’s equalizer bettered it, as he volleyed home a failed Wolves clearance from the edge of the box.

Earlier in the game, Mateus Nunes was lucky to get away with a shirt pull on Sean Longstaff inside the box.

It would have been a free kick anywhere else on the pitch, so Newcastle will ask why no penalty was given.

As the play developed, Joe Willock had a great chance to score anyway but missed the target from 10 yards out.

After that, though the visitors had most of the ball, the best chances in the first half fell to Wolves, but Nunes and Jimenez were unable to take them.

Then came Neves’ hit, through the legs of Joe Willock and into the bottom corner, giving Nick Pope no chance in the Newcastle goal.

Wolves scored a second with ten minutes to go, but the goal was disallowed due to Pedro Neto fouling Ryan Fraser earlier in the move.

Saint-Maximin then stole the limelight with a volley that will be a contender for the goal of the season, such was its brilliance.
