The Queen: Chelsea send condolences to Royal Family after monarch’s death

Chelsea have joined several other Premier League clubs in sending their condolences to the Royal Family following the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

The Royal Family announced Her Majesty had passed away peacefully at her Balmoral residence on Thursday.

The news was met with tributes from across the sporting world; Manchester United said the club “shares the sorrow of the entire nation”, while Arsenal held a minute’s silence ahead of the second half of their Europa League match at FC Zurich.

The Premier League, meanwhile, announced it was “deeply saddened” by the Queen’s passing.

A statement on Chelsea’s website read: “Chelsea Football Club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. We join those mourning in the UK and across the world.

“We would like to send our condolences to the Royal Family and everyone affected by this very sad news.”
