The dust continues to settle on another season of domestic football and we are looking back on who shone the brightest this term.
As well as picking out the best-performing stars in the Premier League and Europe’s big leagues, we also bring you the England squad when it is announced later today.
Lescott’s team of the season
A sensational end to the season saw Joleon Lescott’s former side Manchester City cap a stunning campaign by winning the Premier League on the final day.
They were pushed hard to end by Liverpool, who had a host of impressive performers in 2021-22 despite missing out on the crown.
With plenty of stars lower down the league also lighting up the division, Lescott picks out his team of the season in the English top flight.
Stars of the season
We are also on hand to pick out the five stars of the campaign in England, Italy, Spain and Germany.
Goalscorers dominate the Premier League offering as Golden Boot winners Mohamed Salah and Heung-Min Son feature but players from West Ham and Southampton also make the cut.
Despite AC Milan pipping Inter Milan to the Serie A title, there are no places for players from either as a former Chelsea ace and a January newcomer are hailed.
There will be no surprises to see Real Madrid duo Karim Benzema and Vinicius Junior named as two of the stars of LaLiga, but who else joins them in Spain?
Some familiar names make up the Bundesliga’s list, with at least two of the players heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in the not too distant future.
England squad
With the league campaign concluded, attention is swiftly turning to international action as England prepare for Nations League fixtures against Hungary, Germany and Italy next month.
We will have Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions squad in full when it is announced at 2pm, with reports that Jarrod Bowen could earn his maiden call-up.
