Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly is eager to sign Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong this summer.
American businessman Boehly, 49, has already spent more than £500million on new arrivals since taking over at Stamford Bridge last June.
But the Blues remain on the lookout for further recruits after an underwhelming season has left Graham Potter’s men 11 points off the top four with 12 Premier League games remaining.
De Jong is now claimed to be the West Londoners’ prized target for the next transfer window, according to Football Insider.
The 25-year-old Dutch international was the subject of much transfer speculation last summer, but chose to stay at the Camp Nou.
He has since made 22 LaLiga appearances for the table-topping Catalans.
Manchester United are expected to revisit their interest in the coming months, with boss Erik ten Hag hoping to reunite with his former Ajax talent.
Any potential suitor will face a tough task recruiting De Jong, with him contracted to the Blaugrana until 2026.
He also recently distanced himself from an exit, saying: “I want to succeed at Barca. Right now, I’m calm and I want to continue at Barca.”
